Thai Tourism Marks New High in 2017

20 December 2017

Thailand set a new tourism record in 2017, with 34 million international tourist arrivals in the Kingdom expected by year-end. Tourists will spend an estimated US$50 million in Thailand during 2017.

The government said that the 33rd millionth tourist was Julie Nathalie A. Ceyssens, a holiday-maker from Belgium. She was greeted at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport by senior Tourism Authority of Thailand executives and private sector industry representatives. Ms. Ceyssens received two economy-class return tickets good for another trip from her home to Thailand, and a voucher for a five-night stay. She also was presented with a commemorative t-shirt and a certificate from the TAT.

The “Thailand’s Luckiest Visitor” campaign was rolled out in June 2015 to reward visitors who break arrival tourism records and attract more travelers to the Kingdom.
