Weekend Rail Service between Bangkok and Pattaya Inaugurated

27 March 2018

A new train linking Bangkok with Pattaya Sattahip debuted 17 March for a six-month trial period. If by 30 September the service sees demand, it will be introduced on a regular basis. In the meantime, the three-car air-conditioned train will operate twice daily on Saturdays and Sundays.

The timetable caters to travelers planning weekend getaways. The train departs Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong station at 6:45 a.m., and returns at 6:25 p.m. The train arrives in Pattaya at 9:13 a.m., then makes stops at the Floating Market, Wat Yan Sang Wararam, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, and terminates at Phlu Ta Luang. For the return trip, departure is at 3:50 p.m., with arrival in Pattaya at 4:26 p.m. The fare is THB 170 (about US$5.45).

The new weekend service is expected to draw more travelers to the East Coast of the Gulf of Siam.
