The Bank of Thailand has issued new 500- and 1,000-baht banknotes featuring Rama X to mark HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s 66th birthday. The new banknotes are available in ATMs.
On 28 July, thousands of Thais and foreign visitors came to Bangkok to light candles in celebration of the King’s birthday. Escorted by his daughters, Princess Bajrakitiyabha and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn visited the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. After a ceremony, he sprinkled holy water on the crowds outside.
Thailand’s post office expressed its reverence for the King by releasing a series of stamps depicting the monarch. Other activities held to honor the occasion included a photo exhibition and a variety of cultural shows, themed master classes and other entertainment.
