Thailand 4.0 to Lead the Kingdom Forward

16 September 2016

The Thai government has rolled out a program it hopes will help the country modernize and generate higher wages. The program, Thailand 4.0, concentrates on the industrial sector, providing near-term efforts to create a value-based economy driven by innovation.

The initiative was presented to international media in Phetchaburi province, which the government says is a role model for the Thailand 4.0 agenda. Journalists witnessed the rural community’s achievements as examples of the action plan.

Thailand 4.0 focuses on the sustainable development of five core industries, including food and agricultural technology, healthcare and medical technology, smart devices and mechanical systems, digital technology, and innovation services. Large investments will be made in infrastructure projects and tourism.

The Thailand 4.0 model is expected to transform the country’s traditional agriculture into smart farming, and conventional small- and mid-sized businesses into top-rank high-value enterprises, the government said.
