Bangkok Readies for Tourism Festival

12 January 2017

Bangkok is preparing to host the 37th Thailand Tourism Festival from 25 until 29 January, the Tourism Authority reports.

Lumpini Park, the main venue, will be transformed into a miniature representation of the Kingdom, with replicas of landmarks and examples of traditions and cultural events from the five major regions of Thailand – North, South, East, Central and the Northeast. Festivities will include flamboyant processions, musical performances, fun contests, exhibits, and food tasting.

The event will interest locals and foreigners alike.

Tourism authorities expect the five-day festival to attract 650,000 visitors and generate revenue of about THB 400 million. The festival coincides with the Chinese New Year celebration on 28 January.

The Festival will open at 2:00 P.M. and close at 10 :00 P.M. daily.
