Free and low-cost visas extended

31 March 2017

Thailand’s cabinet has decided to keep the visa-on-arrival fee at THB 1,000 (about US $35.00) for visitors from 19 countries. That fee is half the rate others pay.

Visitors enjoying the special rate can also obtain visas at no cost at Thai embassies and consulates prior to arrival. The program benefits visitors from Andorra, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

The cabinet initially said it would waive tourist visa fees and cut visa-on-arrival fees in half for only a three-month period to attract more visitors during the high season.
