Royal Crematorium Open to Visitors

07 November 2017

The royal crematorium at Sanam Luang in Bangkok, recently used in the cremation ceremony for King Bhumibol Adulyadej, is open to the public.

The pavilions house an exhibition where visitors can learn about the much-beloved late king’s life and reign. Some of King Bhumibol’s personal belongings are on display.

The exhibition was initially scheduled to last until 30 November, however the officials have already requested His Majesty Maha Vajiralongkorn’s permission to extend the duration. The museum is estimated to be receiving around 140,000 visitors daily.

When the exhibition is over, the crematorium will be demolished and most of its parts will be transferred to temples and kept in museums throughout Thailand.
