Bangkok's Historic Lhong 1919 Pier Enjoys Revival

13 November 2017

Lhong 1919, a legendary Chinese pier on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok has reopened after restoration. This Sino-Siamese historical heritage site also includes Mazu, a sacred shrine.

Built more than 150 years ago under King Rama IV, the monument closed for renovation last October. Paintings and architectural elements were restored by Thai artists. A few retail shops and eateries have been built into the old buildings on the property by the river as well.

Lhong 1919 is open from 10:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Twice a day, visitors are invited to enjoy a Chinese opera performance.
