Police Vigilant Following Attacks

15 August 2016

After the explosions which struck several popular resort towns in Thailand, including Hua Hin, Trang and Surat Thani, on 11 and 12 August, police have increased their presence nationwide and enhanced security measures have been put in place to ensure safety for locals aand foreign visitors alike. No tourists hosted by SAYAMA Travel were affected by the blasts.

Thai prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has called for calm and ordered the intensification of security measures in densely populated cities and tourist destinations throughout the country, TAT News reports.

• All related government agencies as well as the public sector are now closely working together to prevent further attacks and to improve safety. The country’s emergency services and hospitals are on standby in the unlikely event of any more incidents.

• Following the blasts, police investigation commenced. The perpetrators will be brought to justice, PM Chan-o-cha promised.

• Airports, train stations and bus terminal are operating as usual. However, passengers are requested to be on time for flights and not cause delays.

All special events and other festivities to mark HM Queen’s Birthday and Mother’s Day are taking place as per the original schedule.

The Thai tourism authority has promised to keep tourists updated with any changes in the situation, including recent regulations and restrictions which may be introduced in the Kingdom in the aftermath. The situation is completely under control, the ТАТ assures, and Thailand remains a welcoming and secure destination.
