On 1 January, Thais were invited to Bangkok’s Grand Palace to sign commemorative books blessing the reign of the new monarch, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, or King Rama X, the Tourism Authority of Thailand said.

The ceremony will be held in the Sala Sahathai Samakhom from 07:30 until 17:00. On that day, there will be no access for tourists to the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall, however other areas of the Grand Palace, including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, will be open as usual from 08:30 till 15:30.
